The Leeds Lung Health Check has now closed to recruitment. Some participants in the study will continue to have scans to review lung nodules seen on previous scans until October 2026. They will be contacted directly about this.

Lung cancer screening has now been approved by the NHS in England, and an NHS-funded lung cancer screening service ( Lung health checks – NHS ) is expected to start in Leeds sometime in 2026. People will be invited by letter and phone-call once the service starts. Please note that this new screening service will be delivered by a different team from the Leeds Lung Health Check, so the Leeds Lung Health Check team will not be able to answer questions about future service.

Accessibility

The Yorkshire Lung Screening Trial is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.

Web Accessibility Initiative

This website strives to achieve accessibility standards set out by the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 (WCAG 1.0). The guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines will help make the web become more usable for all people.

The Yorkshire Lung Screening Trial site is designed to display correctly using current (and future) browsers being created using standards compliant HTML mark-up and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).

Exceptions

Whilst The Yorkshire Lung Screening Trial complies with known accessibility and usability guidelines it is not always possible to do so to the letter of each checkpoint. In light of this, we are continually developing solutions that conform to the spirit of each checkpoint, bringing together a high standard of practicality throughout the website.
